Admission time:
I am going to have an iPad. Not right now--probably not until v3, or until I can afford it, whichever comes after my breaking point.
Yes, it is a giant iPod. Yes, I have a laptop with far more varied capabilities and functionality (for now, anyway).
But let's face it. It just looks like so much fun. I cannot help but want one, because it just looks like such a cool little gadget to add to my collection. Sometimes you don't want to carry the whole damn laptop around to read the news or the blog or the story, or to watch the video. It's a screen attached to the internet, and it's a cool idea. I am in favor of cool ideas.
Yes, I am an Apple fan, but I'm not just going to mindlessly buy anything they make. I'm still not sold on the iPhone, even though I know people who have them and love them. I just don't need an iPod that takes phone calls. I've got a perfectly good cell phone for that, and a perfectly good iPod with twice as much room for music.
And finally--yes, they could improve the iPad and I hope they will. That's why I'm holding out.
Well, that and the fact that an iPad costs more than my bank account right now.
