The Anvil of the World is one of my favorite books. I was ecstatic when the House of the Stag came out, as a sort of prequel/sequel to it. Kage Baker is one of those names that will make me pick up any anthology, whatever the topic, because I'm sure that even if every other story sucks she will knock it out of the ballpark with hers.
Which is why I'm really sad to hear that she died in January. There aren't a lot of authors whose next work I've looked forward to with such eagerness, and I really loved her touch with fantasy. She certainly belongs on the list of writers who have influenced me, and she will be missed.
